DR. ALEX WOODS

Brandon, South Dakota

Dr. Alex Woods was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. He completed his undergraduate degree at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, and then obtained his DDS degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, exercising, and spending time with his friends and family. Dr. Woods is thrilled to join Neighborhood Dental and looks forward to providing patient-centered, quality care to Brandon's community.

Why he loves dentistry:"I love all the intricacies and small details of dentistry. Perfecting and customizing each patient's treatment plan and smile goals brings me great joy. Crowns, bridges, and restoring implants are my favorite treatments because of these reasons. With the knowledge I've gained and practice using today's latest technology, I can create restorations that seamlessly blend with natural teeth, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and high functionality."

He chose to study dentistry because he had a lot of treatment done at a young age and found it fascinating, so he thought he would explore it as a career choice. Then, he got more involved and liked the challenge dentistry presented and the work itself. Plus, he gets to meet and help so many different people that it felt like a way to make a difference, while helping others!

Following dental school, Dr. Heesch joined the US Army and served at Ft. Riley in Kansas as a dentist for four years. She then worked at a private family practice in Nebraska. Over the course of her career, Dr. Heesch has taken several hours of continuing education focused on subjects such as cosmetic dentistry, comprehensive dentistry, and sleep medicine. She has even completed the Mastery Program through the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and today, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Heesch and her husband (a professor of Exercise Science at Augustana University) have a young son and daughter, and they are eager to be closer to family now that they are based in South Dakota again.
